| dc.description | Las empresas públicas han tenido protagonismo en las economías del mundo desde el surgimiento de los Estados-Nación. Sin embargo, la literatura especializada coincide en señalar la escasez de trabajos sobre las firmas estatales, especialmente en América Latina y destaca la necesidad de incorporar estudios históricos desde sus orígenes, con el propósito de intervenir en debates muy vigentes sobre el papel de las empresas públicas en los procesos de desarrollo. El objetivo de este artículo consiste en retomar esta agenda de investigación a la luz del caso argentino y efectuar una reconstrucción historiográfica de las principales empresas públicas desde su creación hasta el auge del siglo XX. Para ello, se identifican las diferentes fases de su desarrollo, se recuperan las diversas motivaciones detrás de su creación y la evolución de los formatos legales y administrativos que las rigieron. | |
| dc.description | Public enterprises have had a leading role in world economies since the emergence of nation-states. However, specialized literature coincides in pointing out the scarcity of studies on state firms, especially in Latin America, and highlights the need to incorporate historical studies from their origins, with the purpose of intervening in current debates on the role of public companies in development processes. The objective of this article is to return to this research agenda in light of the Argentine case and to carry out a historiographic reconstruction of the main public enterprises from their creation to the rise of the 20th century. To do this, we identify the different 'phases' of its development, recover the various motivations behind its creation and describe the evolution of the legal and administrative formats that governed them. | |
