dc.descriptionIn the studies on Argentine foreign policy, little attention is given to the internal factors of foreign policy and to the social movement that may arise around measures or positions adopted by the Governments. Although there is an increasingly developed bibliography on the history and relevance of the relationship between Argentina and the United States, at present there are no investigations that have addressed in depth the visits of US leaders. Just monographic works on some of them and a book that describes, panoramically, the first four. This article, which is the result of the research for the book Welcome, Mr. President (Morgenfeld, 2018), aims to fill this historiographical vacuum, from an approach that addresses international relations, history, political science, sociology and economics. It is the result of more than a decade of investigating the ups and downs of the bilateral link, waging in the diplomatic archives of the two countries, in the press and in some interviews with diplomats and analysts, about the the arrival of the American presidents to Argentina.
dc.descriptionLos estudios sobre la política exterior argentina suelen prestar poca o nula atención a los factores internos que condicionan la política exterior y al movimiento social que puede surgir alrededor de las medidas o posiciones adoptadas por los gobiernos. Aunque existe una bibliografía cada vez más desarrollada sobre la historia y actualidad de la relación entre Argentina y Estados Unidos, prácticamente no hay investigaciones en profundidad sobre las visitas de mandatarios estadounidenses. Apenas trabajos monográficos sobre alguna de ellas y un libro que describe, panorámicamente, las primeras cuatro. El objetivo de este artículo, surgido de la investigación publicada en el libro Bienvenido Mr. President (Morgenfeld, 2018), es llenar ese vacío historiográfico, a partir de un enfoque que entrecruza disciplinas como las relaciones internacionales, la historia, la ciencia política, la sociología y la economía. Este producto de más de una década de investigar los avatares del vínculo bilateral, abreva en archivos diplomáticos de ambos países, en la prensa y en entrevistas a protagonistas y analistas, y ahora enfoca el momento particular de la llegada de los presidentes estadounidenses a la Argentina.
